The Farm Yard

The farmyard quarter provided shelter for livestock and the farm
hands that tended them. In addition to the grain and vegetables
grown on the estate it would have managed a significant head of
sheep and cattle, providing meat for the tables and fleeces that could
be made into warm woollen clothing.

The Granary buildings

Overseen by the Granger the Granary was located next to the mill
and was typically used as a store for the freshly threshed grains
awaiting milling. The granary buildings were heated by wood
burning kilns that allowed the grain to dry reducing its moisture
 content in preparation for milling.

The Grainstore

The vast grain store building, located on the southern boundary of the
Estate, was orientated to take best advantage of the suns warming rays.
It was important to ensure that the valuable grain laid down in times of
plenty was slowly and naturally dried to create a precious reserve
should a harsh winter befall the estate. All comings and goings were
closely monitored by the store master who's team of apprentices were
responsible for regularly turning airing the grain.

The Manor Houses

Their elegant georgian form offers beautiful proportions,
light rooms and a subtle understated style. The pale colour
palette and intricate moldings further add to the undeniable
sense of sophistication offered by these magnificent buildings.
